Terry Sumner has been a P.O.S.T. Certified Police Officer since October 1996, and a Police Departmental Instructor since 2000. During this time, he has held a variety of Law Enforcement positions including S.R.T. Team member, Mountain Bike Officer, P.P.C.T. Instructor and Patrol Division Supervisor. LT. Sumner has served with a number of Agencies including, Bells Police Dept., Humboldt Police Dept., Collierville Police Dept. and is currently serving as a Patrol shift Supervisor for Medina Police department, where he has been the Departmental Firearms Instructor since 2007. He holds a State of Tennessee Specialized Police Instructor certification in Firearms and Tactical Rifle, along with a Tennessee Handgun Safety Instructor certification, and is the owner of Ronin Tactical.
Prior to entering Law Enforcement he was Honorably Discharged as a Sergeant (E-5P) from the U.S Army after 6 years of Active Duty service. Terry spent 4 years as a Paratrooper and Forward Observer assigned to the 2nd Bn. 505th parachute Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division. He held positions including assistant Unit Armorer, and Company F.I.S.T Team Sergeant. He is a Veteran of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Terry also participated in the 319th F.A.R. (Airborne) Regiment Pistol Team, and as an Instructor in the 505th Regimental Combat Leadership Course developed In Country during Operation Desert Shield.
